Freeriding fans in search of quests on untouched mountain snow, look no further. The Arlberg ski resort has something really special to offer: heliskiing!

Due to strict nature conservation laws, this experience is unique to the Arlberg. Join your guide on a helicopter ride to the summit where the adventure begins. Far from the crowds and pistes, small groups are permitted to head downhill on immaculate powder snow. There are two mountains where lifts and cable cars are conspicuous by their absence: Mehlsack is perfect for experienced skiers, and Schneetäli-Orgelscharte is recommended for people with intermediate abilities. The latter is especially attractive in spring when there is corn snow.

Heliskiing packages are available for up to four people, including your guide. The packages can be booked via ski schools in Lech and Zürs. Our team will be happy to help.

Once upon a time skiing holidays were spent on the piste and in the hotel. Those days are well and truly over! The Arlberg’s tourist regions host a number of winter events that can also be enjoyed when the day’s skiing is over.

A wide range of events take place on Arlberg’s slopes and cross-country trails, in the region’s village centres and event venues every day. There’s something for everyone: festivals, parties, theatre, shows, film, cabaret, music, dancing, classes, talks, exhibitions and traditions.

The Arlberg’s ‘Schneetreiben’ ski show

It’s not easy to single out individual events, but one of the most popular is the ‘Schneetreiben – The snow must go on’ ski show, which takes place at the Karl Schranz Stadium every Wednesday at 9pm. Admission is free and spectators are presented with a multimedia journey through the history of skiing, culminating in a spectacular firework display.

Even more snow on the way!

The Arlberg ski resort is not only Austria’s largest interconnected ski area, it is also one of the Alps’ most reliable regions for snow cover.

Accessed by 87 cutting-edge lifts and cable cars, the 305 interconnected kilometres of slopes and 200km of deep snow runs are due to get a fresh covering of snow early this week.

A strong weather front is currently crossing the Arlberg, resulting in fresh snowfall, especially at over 1,700m above sea level. In the second half of the week, milder temperatures will create ideal conditions for sunshine skiing.
